Bringing Up Boys Study
BRINGING UP BOYS STUDY
BY JAMES DOBSON
In 1970, troubled by the crumbling of traditional methods of raising families, child psychologist James Dobson wrote a parenting handbook encouraging tough love. In 1977, he told his wife he was quitting his positions at the University of Southern California School of Medicine and the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles to start a radio ministry. His initial book, Dare to Discipline, has now sold well over three million copies and was selected as one of 50 books to be placed in the White House Library. The radio ministry, "Focus on the Family," is now on 2,300 stations in the United States, with an audience of 5 million people. It is heard in 70 different countries and in eight languages.
Dobson and his wife, Shirley, have been married for 37 years. They have two grown children. In his "spare time," he likes to ski and is very interested in college sports. He also enjoys reading about World War II and Winston Churchill, whom he admires for his moral courage and farsightedness.
With so much confusion about the role of men in our society, it's no wonder so many parents and teachers are a loss about how to bring up boys. Our culture has vilified masculinity and, as a result, boys are suffering. Parents, teachers and others involved in shaping the character of boys have lots of questions. In Bringing Up Boys, Dr. James Dobson, America's most trusted expert on family issues, tackles these questions - and offers advice and encouragement based on a firm foundation of Biblical principles. A must-read book for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, counselors - anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men.
This 12 week DVD study is for parents, teachers, social workers, youth leaders, counselors - anyone involved in the challenge of turning boys into good men. Check back for time and place.
